EAMCET

About EAMCET

Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) is conducted for admissions to various professional courses in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The EAMCET results form the basis for filling up seats in universities and private colleges of the two states in the fields of engineering, pharmacy and agriculture.

The Telangana EAMCET (TS EAMCET) is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, and the Andhra Pradesh EAMCET (AP EAMCET) is conducted by JNTU, Kakinada.

Candidates have the option of appearing in both exams for admissions to colleges of their choice in either state.

Examination pattern

EAMCET (engineering)

A total of 160 objective-type, multiple-choice questions are asked in the exam. There are 4 options to choose from for each question, out of which only one is the correct answer. Candidates are awarded 1 mark for each correct answer. There is no negative marking.

The number of questions for each subject is as follows:

  • Physics - 40 questions
  • Chemistry - 40 questions
  • Mathematics - 80 questions

EAMCET (agriculture and pharmacy)

The pattern of examination is similar to that of the EAMCET engineering entrance exam. The number of questions from each subject is as follows:

  • Physics - 40 questions
  • Chemistry - 40 questions
  • Zoology - 40 questions
  • Botany - 40 questions

The TS EAMCET is pen-and-paper based (offline) and candidates have to use blue or black ball-point pens to mark the answers on the OMR sheets. On the other hand, the AP EAMCET is computer-based (online).

The question papers are available in English as well as Telugu. Candidates can also opt for Urdu as the language of examination, but only in Hyderabad for TS EAMCET and in Kurnool for AP EAMCET.
