A New Next-gen Education Board for Delhi Students
The Delhi government has announced a new board to control the processes of school education in Delhi. It has been envisioned to be the answer to the students’ dependency on private tuitions in preparing for national competitive exams such as JEE and NEET.
Conceptualised way back in 2015, the plans stopped due to a high-priority need for suitable infrastructure in schools. The plan solidified more when CBSE hiked its examination fee for board exams starting this year.
However, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has claimed that the new education board will not be a replacement of the existing CBSE board, but more focused on providing personalised learning, depending on what the learner wants to pursue.
According to the Times of India article, a student covers 10% of the entrance exam syllabus in schools and the rest of it in coaching centres. The government intends to make it part of the board syllabi so that they can help students pass these exams with flying colours without spending so much time in coaching centres.
