US university employs drone technology to inspect crops
Fort Valley State University in Georgia, the United States has recently introduced drone technology to teach students how to inspect crops with its help. Drones, which are unmanned aerial vehicles, are being used by the agricultural engineering students at the university to spot imperfections in the crops. The technology has been adopted in the field of education as an effective tool.
Drones can either be controlled by a person on the ground or via a computer programme. Equipped with sensors and navigational systems, these vehicles can fly over vast distances and capture photographs remotely. They can easily identify which crops are stressed, diseased or need more watering. Such a move can prevent crop loss in the future and yield fruitful results to farmers.
