Rwanda Edtech Companies to Submit Proposals to Transform Education in Africa
In a recent ministerial round-table meeting hosted in Botswana, the Rwandan-based Mastercard Foundation’s Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning has requested proposals from edtech innovators working to transform the education space in Africa. The focus of these proposals will be on two priority areas: professional development for in-service teachers and providing quality learning content to in-school and out-of-school secondary school learners. The deadline for submissions is 21 November 2019.
Since its inception in 2006, the foundation has been working towards providing learning opportunities and financial assistance to the less privileged in Africa. It works with governments, edtech developers and other stakeholders to identify the obstacles faced by young people in pursuing secondary education in Africa.
In a bid to improve the teaching-learning outcomes in Africa, the Centre has decided to support 12 edtech companies for a minimum of 12 months and offer a comprehensive package that includes customised mentorship, financial help and opportunities to scale up their business.
