School Bags Might Become a Thing of the Past in Haryana
In a highly appreciative move, the Haryana government has initiated a pilot project under which students will not be required to carry bags to schools.
The government is trying to come up with a student-friendly scheme which will require students to keep their books in school, thereby helping them get rid of the burden of their school bags. The pilot project will initially be implemented in 50 schools across the state. Following successful implementation and positive feedback from students and teachers, the scheme might be implemented across all schools.
P. K. Das, additional chief secretary, School Education, said: “the education department has always worked towards fostering stress-free and joyful atmosphere in schools so that students may develop further interest in studies.” For the last few months, Saturdays were being observed as bag-free ‘Joyful saturdays’ in schools. The initiative had received overwhelming response.
