Sustainable six: Tips to become a greener student
Building environment consciousness from the formative years is very important as it develops the sense of ecological responsibility in youngsters, which is highly necessary today. Professionals, organisations or governments’ initiative to protect the environment is a secondary attempt at stemming the damage done to our environment; the primary attempt should come from our global citizens individually.
Most of the 21st-century youngsters grow up with a general environmental awareness, which inculcates in them some environment-friendly habits such as dropping waste material in dustbins or turning off electric devices while leaving rooms. However, that is not enough, considering this generation’s sky-high rate of consumption of nature’s resources or the production of waste.
Naomi Howlett, a student from Loughborough University, presents some useful tips and tricks that all students can practise to become more sustainable, such as intelligent planning of shopping list (groceries or otherwise), avoidance of plastic-packed goods, taking public transportation facilities instead of private ones and so forth.
