UK universities applaud India’s New Education Policy, new possibilities of collaboration
As a part of the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), India’s bilateral educational programme with the UK, the UK higher education officials are pleased to find positive changes in the Draft New Education Policy of India.
The British Council, the governing body of UKIERI, said that the ‘introduction of flexibility in study options and crucially the formation of a national research body’ goes hand-in-hand with UK’s own higher education policy, and can have a positive impact on Indian students choosing to study in UK universities.
There have been a few issues regarding Indian students studying in UK universities, namely the post-study work visa policy and the mutual recognition of Master’s degrees by the two countries. Steve Smith, Chair, Universities UK International, hopes that the NEP of India is a step towards resolving these issues with the best outcome possible for higher studies aspirants.
