NEET put off; AIPMT on April 1, May 13, 2012

THE UNION GOVERNMENT has decided to postpone the all India National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) proposed to be held for admission to MBBS courses across the country. Accordingly, the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct its All India Pre-Media/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) in April and May 2013. The AIPMT preliminary examination will be held on April 1, 2012, and the final examination on May 13, 2012, according to a CBSE spokesman. The AIPMT would now be held for filling up only 15 per cent All-India quota seats as per the existing pattern. Earlier, NEET was to be held for admission to MBBS courses in keeping with the decision of the Union Ministry of Health. The eligibility conditions, syllabus, pattern and examination centres for AIPMT 2012 will remain similar to those for the 2011 examinations.
