India off list of polio nations

Here is something we all ought to be proud of. India has emerged victorious in one battle against the dreaded polio disease. WHO has removed India from the list of countries plagued by the crippling disease. This was done as India has not registered even a single new case in the past year. Quite an achievement for our doctors and health sector workers, of course, with cooperation from WHO, UNICEF and some NGO’s! However, this is not a time to rest on our oars. We may have won the battle, but the war is far from over. We must do everything that is necessary to eradicate the disease. This can be done with everybody’s cooperation and initiative, not only doctors, health sector workers and NGO’s.
