How to score well in chemistry

Be it a board exam or an entrance exam—chemistry is an important subject. Although it is a scoring subject, many students cannot score well. Chemistry-phobia is probably the sole reason behind it. So, if you have this phobia, rid your mind of it at first and start your preparation with full concentration. The following tips will guide you how to score good marks in chemistry.

In class 12, chemistry is segregated into three divisions—physical, organic and inorganic. You should pay individual attention to each division. For instance, if you are studying physical chemistry, put your best foot forward in learning the formulas related to Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, Solutions and so on. Besides, you should try to do some exercises related to these topics on a regular basis. A better understanding of these theories will give you an edge during board as well as competitive exams.

On the other hand, when you are studying organic chemistry, pay more attention to the topics like Phenols, Ether, Acids, and so on. Do remember that since this division is the easiest part of the subject, you can score good marks in it by putting very minimum effort.

Inorganic chemistry; however, requires more efforts and learning, as you need to remember various chemical reactions,  processes and chemical compounds and their preparation. It is better to prepare a note of important chapters. It will help you at the time of revision.

In addition, you can consider the following points.

  • Many students fail to perform well in chemistry as they do not have a clear understanding of many concepts and theories. So, make sure that you are completely clear about all concepts and theories. Do not hesitate to seek your teacher’s help if you have any confusion.
  • Once you complete a chemistry chapter, note down all the important points and revise those points whenever you have spare time.
  • Last but not the least; appear in as many mock tests as possible in order to be exam-ready.
