Udaan scheme applications sought by CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is accepting applications for the 2017-19 session of Udaan. The scheme is aimed at mentoring girl students, in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, government schools affiliated to recognised boards and private schools affiliated to the CBSE, and helping them enrol in top engineering colleges.

The candidates selected are given tablets pre-loaded with free study material, mentoring support and virtual contact classes. Financial assistance is also provided in the form of reward points at centrally funded technical institutes and engineering colleges, such as NITs and IITs, to candidates who are regular with Udaan Credit Accrual Assessment during classes 11 and 12.

Girl students residing in India and currently studying Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 11, with family income less than Rs. 6 lakh per annum, are eligible. Also, they are required to have scored a minimum of 70% in class 10, and 80% in Science and Mathematics. Alternatively, they should have a minimum GPA of 9 in Maths and Science and CGPA of 8.

August 7, 2017 is the last date of submission of online applications at the official website of the CBSE.

The principal of the school where an applicant is studying has to duly verify the printed application form and the required certificates, after submission of the application online.
