Teachers can trigger reforms in education
The education sector in India is undergoing a major change, with the advent of eLearning and the focus shifting from learning by rote to learning by experiencing and exploring. Teachers in the country can make a significant contribution to this change by triggering reforms in the education sector. There can be several ways in which teachers can trigger this revolution. They can learn new ways of teaching and learning. They can adopt technology as an aid and a tool to deliver better teaching to their students – one way of doing this is by adopting eLearning in their classrooms. Teachers can also be empowered through training sessions, workshops and seminars, to build capacity. Learning through peers can be the most effective and facilitative to usher in changes and encourage adoption of technology. Schools must also, of course, pitch in by providing the necessary resources.
