Amazon Launches Echo Frames: Glasses That Act out Your Commands!
Amazon has launched the Echo Frames, a pair of connected glasses that let you speak commands and hear Alexa’s replies, hands-free. Sounds like the first step to the classic Iron Man scenario with his AI assistant, JARVIS!
But Echo Frames are not that drastic – yet.
Say you have your hands full helping your kid build a lamp-shade, and ask Alexa to turn on your laptop to play a video showing the same. You can control some features by swiping along the earpiece, such as microphones, which can be shut off by double-tapping an action button on the temple, or enabling micro speakers aimed at your ears that let only you hear Alexa’s response.
Echo Frames have no heads-up display (HUD) for now, that is, they won’t project information like navigation or AR interlays on the world around you onto the lenses in front of your eyes.
Finally, according to Amazon, your optometrist will be able to fit lenses to your Echo Frames as well as adjust their fit just like any other pair of prescription eyeglasses. Awesome, right? Who knows, maybe soon enough we will get all-knowing-listening-talking glasses as Iron Man does!
