Must schoolchildren lose their vacation?
Many schoolchildren, especially those who have appeared for their Class IX and XI examination, and will enter Class X or XII in the academic session 2012-13, will have to sacrifice their summer vacation this year to prepare for the board exams slated for 2013. This is because these children have their classes starting early to prepare for the board exams. Classes start early usually to ensure that the syllabus is completed well before time and the students get sufficient opportunity to study, revise and practise. Do you think this is a good practice, even if academic excellence is the goal? What can be done to ensure that your child does not lose out on studies/academics and yet enjoys a well-deserved break? Do write in with your opinions and views here. We look forward to hearing from you on the issue.
