Indians read more per week than many others
According to the NOP World Culture Score Index, has found that Indians spend more time reading per week. A survey conducted in 30 countries, it has found that Indians spend 10.4 hours reading every week.
Thailand and China are in the second and third places, respectively, with weekly averages of 9.24 hours and 8 hours.
Many European countries, which have much higher literacy rates, are not in the top ten of the list. Only Sweden and France are there, at the eighth and ninth positions.
A number of successful Indian authors and the ease of purchase of books online in the recent past are among the likely reasons for India being in the top position.
