Punjab to Provide Free Education to Girls from Pre-primary to PhD

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced that the government will sponsor the education of all girls from nursery to PhD in government schools and colleges.

• Free textbooks for all students of government schools
• A pilot project from July to promote English learning in schools. To begin with, two schools at all levels from  every block will have English medium instruction from next month.
• Mulling over an increase in the budget allocated for education sector, five new colleges would be set up in the state this year
• Wi-Fi facility will be provided for 13,000 primary schools and all 48 government colleges.
