Maharashtra: Sainik Schools’ Curriculum to be Upgraded on Par with that of CBSE

In a first, the 30 Sainik Schools in Maharashtra will be inspected to assess their quality and curriculum. The government order stated that since the schools have never been inspected to check their quality and the degree to which they observe the stipulated norms, the committee will conduct the first-of-its-kind inspection. The order further laid down that to ensure uniformity in education, the school’s curriculum would be upgraded to bring it at par with that of CBSE.

A 15 member committee has been deputed to carry forth this inspection. Initially the committee comprised of 14 members. However following a recent government resolution (GR), the Director of Secondary Education has been included in the body. The committee comprising of educationists, experts and officials, are expected to submit their report in March, 2017.

As reported in The Indian Express, an official of school education department said that the purpose was not just to inspect the school infrastructure but also “the level of understanding among students studying at these 30 schools, their physical and mental strength, quality of teaching and residential facilities provided.” “The detailing of the parameters are yet to be fixed. The gradation will allow parents to take appropriate decisions during the admission process every year,” he further added.
