“Be Open To Criticisms”
Aditya Srinivasulu is a brilliant student and a sports enthusiast studying at Secunderabad Public School. He recently changed from the state board to the CBSE board and shares with Next Gurukul some tactics and techniques on how he juggles between activities and managed the transition.
Q. Are smart classes helping you in studying and standing firm in this growing competitive world? How do use them to your advantage?
I am thankful to have been born in this generation where we have digital education reaching out to us. As for me, I first study from the textbook, try to understand the concepts and the content myself and then turn to the digital education. Studying this way, I try using my thinking power also rather than being dependent on the smart class content. Every student should initially try to understand the concepts from their textbooks itself and then use the smart classes as a means of help and not the ultimate source.
Q. What takes up your time apart from academics? How do you manage?
I am a tech-savvy person, who loves to be glued to screen. My aim is to study Biological Informatics as my parents are zoologists and I want to take it a step further. Once home I am most of the time searching and researching online for the same. I try to understand as much as I can during the classes itself, so that I have enough time for web browsing at home. Students today ought to be aware of the happenings globally, so we lag behind nothing. However, one must know what’s important, if you are hampering studies owing to internet browsing, you should immediately cut down the amount of time spent on latter and focus more on the former.
Q. CBSE Board has introduced new subjects like entrepreneurship in class 11th. What’s your say on this for students?
This is definitely a great initiative on the board’s side. Such subjects help us explore our interest and inclination at an early stage thereby helping in shaping teh path to our future well in time. I would suggest, before opting for a new subject, students should search online as what’s it all about and how interested it seems to them. When you are fully satisfied about the content and sure that this is what you want, go for it right away.
Q. Tips for fellow students?
Be open to criticisms. Try to develop a receptive mindset which offers space for improvement. Never think what you are doing is right, this will leave no room for improvement and you might end up being at the top, but within limits. Criticisms help me push towards my aim, determined to either prove everyone wrong or to live up to their expectations. Crticism if taken in the right spirt works as motivation. If you welcome these, you will always feel self-motivated.
