The depository will help teachers to develop, curate and spread teaching material and, therefore, improve education quality.<\/p>\n<p>The government believes that a content depository will lead to better learning outcomes in schools. It could also serve as a resource for the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT), which prepares curriculum and publishes books for schools. The NCERT could use the depository to periodically update its curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the government aims to encourage teachers to create innovative content in the form of text, audio and video.<\/p>\n<h2>Online access<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0EkStep Foundation, which\u00a0Infosys co-founder\u00a0Nandan Nilekani promotes, is creating an open-source software platform for the depository. This will enable teachers to use the depository as an online resource.
