According to Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has ordered a ban on junk food and aerated drinks in the schools. Similarly, CBSE has advised its affiliated schools to ensure that junk food is not served in their canteens, she said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. The CBSE has also advised its affiliated schools that canteens should serve students only healthy snacks, and that the health and wellness clubs of the schools could monitor this, she said.
