It is easy to teach young minds public speaking, as they tend to consider it fun instead of a fear or challenge. With a little bit of help and guidance, children can easily acquire excellent public speaking skills.

The following tips show how to teach kids the nuances of public speaking.

Relevant topics: Bring enthusiasm while teaching kids public speaking. One good way to do it is to select a topic that excites them. For example, you can choose a topic that most of the students can easily relate to their lives, for example, ‘The importance of homework.’ By selecting a topic of kids’ interest, you can easily eliminate their anxiety and nervousness, which are mainly due to the unfamiliarity with a topic.

Give examples: Your kids will learn the nuances of public speaking better if they watch the videos of notable public speakers. Encourage them to watch these videos minutely to understand how humor, body language, voice modulations as well as stage presence of the speaker enable the speech to flow smoothly.

Practice: Last but not the least; practice holds the key to success. Kids will feel confident about their public speaking skills if they are well practiced. Encourage them to practice with a few of their classmates and ask those classmates to give feedback on their speeches. Slowly, your kids will feel more comfortable in speaking in front of the class or a large group of people, and will be able to put an end to the jitters. Even at home, ask them to practice in front of others.

The best way to beat the public speaking blues is to inculcate this art into kids at their early age.
