Recess is, according to the principles of the Finnish education system, necessary for their social and emotional development.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools around the world must also realise that recess is a right and not a privilege that they extend to students. In a lot of schools, students are punished by taking off their recess time; but it can never be good for the students because it is taking their chance at social-emotional learning.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recess is also a time to work off the rigours of classroom learning. It offers the opportunity to manage the stress of adjusting to the nuances of the complex school environment.
