Education officials from India and China met for the first time under a new bilateral mechanism, as part of the Joint Working Group meeting on education held in Beijing last Wednesday. As per the official press release, both countries are planning to recognise each other\u2019s qualifications, and facilitate faculty and student exchanges <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A press release released on Wednesday by the Indian Embassy said, \u2018Discussion was also held on exploring the possibility of signing an agreement on mutual recognition of qualifications as well as promoting greater student exchange.\u2019 Promoting \u2018educational exchange\u2019 along with ideas of \u2018faculty exchange\u2019 was also discussed in the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the press release, both the countries discussed various aspects of their respective educational systems and explored the areas of cooperation. Presently, 23,000 Indian students are studying in China whereas the number of Chinese students studying in India is 300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
